A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his identical twin brother in a fight on New Year's Eve.
Robert Cerqua, 31, is accused of inflicting serious injuries on his brother Christopher at the home they shared in Hythe, Hampshire, on Tuesday.
Police were called to the address in Langdown Road, Hythe, at 9pm.
Christopher Cerqua was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he died later.
Robert Cerqua was remanded in custody when he appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court.
He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
Trevor Vidler, chairman of the magistrates' panel, asked him if he understood the charge, to which he replied "Yes".
Mr Vidler told him: "You are being sent for trial to the Crown Court and that first hearing will be on Monday.
"You will attend for that preliminary hearing and remain in custody until that date and time. Go with the officers, please."
He is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Monday.
The murder inquiry is being led by detectives from the Hampshire Major Investigation Team.
