Thieves have dug a 50ft (15m) tunnel underneath a cash machine to steal a "significant amount of cash", police said.

They completed their burrowing through wasteland and into the shop overnight on Friday.
The Tesco store is part of an Esso garage The thieves stole cash boxes before escaping back through the tunnel, which police describe as having a "complex structure".
Detective superintendent Mark Toker said: "These people had obviously spent a long time plotting this crime and I doubt they would have been able to keep their plans secret for all that time, without telling others about their elaborate scheme.
"The offenders must have spent long periods of time in the area over the last few months, which people may have noticed.
Police say the tunnel was 'complex' "You may have seen people acting suspiciously on Friday night, possible covered in soil.
"I would ask anyone with any information about the robbery to call us as soon as possible."
It is not the first time thieves have tunnelled their way to cash in Great Manchester.
The thieves could have spent months burrowing Police said those responsible for the raid of a Blockbuster shop in Levenshulme spent six months burrowing a 100ft tunnel with lighting and roof supports.
The theft occurred in January 2012, eight miles from Friday's raid.
