Police are investigating after a group apparently supporting Islamic State militants hacked the website of rugby league side Keighley Cougars.
Anyone logging on to the site was greeted by messages reading "Hacked By Team System Dz" and "i love you isis".
Beneath was the IS logo, followed by Arabic writing and a stream of anti-US propaganda, which called for the "elimination of America and the allies of the infidels".
Chairman Gary Fawcett said: "It's sinister what's happened and whatever organisation, wherever it is in the world should be using its own media, not hijacking other people's."
It is unclear why the group responsible chose to target the third-tier West Yorkshire club - which has an average attendance of around 1,000 - to promote its global message.
"It is a concern that children might see some of those nightmare images," Mr Fawcett told the Keighley News, referring to pictures of wounded woman and children posted on the page.
A statement posted on the club's Twitter account said: "Apologies, the website has been hacked. The developers are working on it. Will let you know when it's back up and running.
"The website is in the hands of IT and the police. It will be taken down shortly."
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were looking into the matter.
The official website was out of action from Sunday evening, until it returned to normal on Monday morning.
Those responsible for the hacking have so far failed to respond to requests for a comment.
Islamic State, previously known as ISIS or ISIL, has seized vast swathes of land in Iraq and Syria over the last year.
Fighters apparently belonging to the group have been shown slaughtering hundreds of captured men in various videos that have emerged online.
IS militants have also released videos purportedly showing US and British hostages - including aid worker Alan Henning - being beheaded.
