Woman Arrested Over Care Home 'Murder'

A woman has been arrested on suspcicion of murdering a man in his eighties at a care home in Yorkshire.

Officers were called at 3.20pm yesterday afternoon after a resident at the Sowerby House care home in Thirsk was found dead in his room.

Detectives say a woman in her fifties from Thirsk with no known connection to the home is being questioned on suspicion of the man's murder.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Following an early investigation and forensic assessment, it is suspected that the injuries suffered by the deceased are non-accidental."

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, said: "We ask that consideration is given to the residents and the families connected to the care home at this time.

"The home has not been closed, however, there are areas within the home which are still being examined."
