A grandmother from Gloucestershire may be jailed for up to 15 years after being accused of trafficking cocaine in Bali.
Lindsay Sandiford, 56, was arrested at Denpasar airport in May when 4.79 kg of the Class A drug was found in the lining of her suitcase.
Indonesian prosecutors have recommended a 15-year sentence and told the Denpasar district court she was "legitimately and convincingly guilty of committing a narcotics crime",
Indonesian drug laws have become increasing strict and recently several convicts have received the death penalty or a life sentence for smuggling narcotics.
Two members of an Australian drug smuggling gang known as 'The Bali Nine' are on death row.
Sandiford covered herself with a scarf to avoid being photographedProsecutors say Sandiford received a lenient recommendation because she behaved well in court and helped the police to find three Britons and an Indian in connection with the case.
In court, a bespectacled Sandiford wore a blue head shroud to shield herself from the press.
She is expected to present her defence at the next trial hearing on January 3.
The same court sentenced two other Britons this week:
Paul Beales, 40, was jailed for four years for possessing 3.6 grams of hashish and Rachel Dougall to 12 months for failing to report a crime.
A fourth Briton, Julian Ponder, is on trial for trafficking and possessing drugs after allegedly picking up a gift-wrapped package from eastern Bali.
