A cyclist has died after collapsing during the RideLondon charity event through the capital and Surrey.
Kris Cook, 36, collapsed at Newlands Corner, Guildford, from a sudden cardiac arrest, a statement by the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 said.
Doctors at the scene rushed to him, but Mr Cook was later pronounced dead in hospital after attempts to revive him failed.
Parts of the race had to be cut due to bad weatherA post-mortem will ascertain the cause of death.
Mr Cook was part of a group of a dozen riders raising money for Woking Hospice.
His mother said he had died doing something he loved.
She said any donations in Mr Cook's memory should be given to Woking Hospice fundraising page on Just Giving.
A spokeswoman for Prudential RideLondon said: "The organisers of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 would like to express their sincere condolences to Kris's family and friends."
The RideLondon Surrey Classic drew more than 20,000 cyclists, but parts of the race had to be cut die to bad weather.
It was shortened from 100 miles to 86 amid forecasts for bad weather as the effects of Hurricane Bertha's remnants were felt in the UK.
