Girl, 16, Arrested By Anti-Terror Police

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested in Manchester on suspicion of planning terrorism offences.

The teenager was held after officers from the Tactical Aid Unit and North West Counter Terrorism Unit executed a warrant at a house in Clee Avenue, Longsight, on Friday.

Officers suspect the girl of "engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism".

She has been bailed until 28 May.

An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News the road was "full of terrorist police" at the time of the girl's arrest.

The investigation is not thought to be related to the nine people stopped at the Turkey-Syria border.
